• At Oscura, we believe in the power of sound to transform spaces and elevate emotions. As darkness falls, we will ignite a journey through meticulously crafted sets that explore the depths of progressive house. Our events will be a sonic expedition from warm, enveloping basslines to soaring melodies that linger in the mind long after the night ends.

  • Oscura means β€œdark” in Spanish β€” a word that captures both the sound and the spirit of the music we love.

The name is a nod to the deep, emotive energy that defines progressive house β€” the kind of music that doesn’t scream for attention, but instead pulls you inward. It’s cinematic, hypnotic, and immersive. And much like the dimly lit rooms where this genre thrives, its power lies in subtlety and atmosphere.

But the name is also a tribute to South America β€” particularly Argentina, where the modern progressive house movement has been redefined. Artists like HernΓ‘n CattΓ‘neo, Mariano Mellino, Ezequial Arias and Kamilo Sanclemente (from neighbouring Colombia) have championed a sound that’s rich with emotion, layered with texture, and steeped in storytelling. Down there, β€œOscura” isn’t just a mood β€” it’s a philosophy.

We chose this name because we’re inspired by that same ethos: to create musical experiences that are intentional, deep, and filled with light found in the shadows.

    β€œWhen light fades, sound begins.”

Progressive house has always been more than music to me. It’s been a constant β€” something I’ve connected with deeply for as long as I can remember. But it wasn’t until experiencing it in its purest form at Amsterdam Dance Event over the last three years, and at Skyline in Glasgow, that I truly understood what made this sound so powerful.

It’s the people. The energy. The community.

At those events, I saw what it really means to belong to this scene β€” where producers, DJs, dancers, and fans don’t just coexist; they move as one. There’s a shared understanding between us all. A mutual respect for the craft, the journey, and the emotion that progressive house brings.

Back home in Leeds, I didn’t feel that same connection. Not yet. There’s talent here, and there’s an appetite β€” but there isn’t a space that truly reflects what this genre is about. That’s why I created Oscura.

Oscura is my vision of what a progressive house community could be in this city β€” cinematic, emotional, and intimate. A place where the music breathes, the sound is curated, and the people matter. We’re not chasing hype. We’re building something meaningful, together β€” track by track, event by event.

This is just the beginning. I hope you’ll be part of the journey.

My journey into electronic music has always been rooted in emotion. I was first drawn to the euphoric energy of Trance and melodic house β€” the kind of music that wraps around you and takes you somewhere else. It all began with the Anjunabeats sound, going to events and feeling that shared connection through music. Over time, that love evolved, leading me to the deeper, more subtle textures of Anjunadeep, where melody met mood and introspection.

It was in the last five years, though, that progressive house truly found its way into my heart. There’s something about its patience, its atmosphere β€” the way it builds and breathes. It felt like the natural next step in my musical path. Guy J quickly became a huge inspiration. His sets are more than performances β€” they’re journeys. The way he crafts his sound, with such precision and soul, completely shifted my perspective on what a DJ set could be. That’s the level of artistry I aspire to.

Oscura was born out of a shared passion between Andrew and I β€” not just for this genre, but for what it represents. For us, progressive house is more than a sound; it’s a mindset, a way of experiencing music slowly, deeply, and with intention. We’ve both felt that magic at events across the world, and we want to bring that same energy to the UK β€” to build a space for artists and listeners who value that emotional depth.

With Oscura, we’re not chasing trends. We’re building a home. A place where the music matters. Where every set tells a story. Where people can come together and lose themselves in something meaningful. My role in this is driven by that vision β€” curating the right artists, shaping the sound, and making sure everything we do comes from an authentic place.

Progressive house gave me something real. Now, I want to give something back.

  • Progressive house is more than a genre; it’s a journey of evolving frequencies and textured layers. At Oscura, we will embrace this ethos fully. Expect rolling basslines that move like ocean tides, ethereal synths that float above deep grooves, and hypnotic percussions that weave everything together seamlessly.

Our resident and guest DJs will craft their sets to tell a story β€” one that builds, breathes, and evolves, much like the pulse of the night itself. Each performance is a carefully curated voyage, designed to guide you through peaks of euphoria and valleys of introspection

  • Soundscapes are at the core of what we do. Inspired by the natural world and the urban energy of Leeds and Manchester, our events will be a blend of atmospheric textures and melodic storytelling. Our sound systems will be fine-tuned to capture every nuance, ensuring that each bass drop and synth wave reverberates with clarity and depth.

We believe that soundscapes have the power to alter perceptions, and at Oscura, we harness that power to create immersive environments where music isn’t just heard β€” it’s felt.

  • Oscura is not just about the music; it’s about the community and the shared journey of discovery. Our events will be a sanctuary for those who seek more than just a night out. They are a call to those who long for a deeper connection with the music β€” where the only destination is the journey itself.

  • Are you ready to descend into the shadows and embrace the sound? We are looking to build a community of prog heads based in the North of England and beyond and bring those sounds that this area of the country is lacking. We are also looking for local DJ’s with a strong social media following to join our team. Enquiries to be sent to hello@oscuramusic.com

  • Oscura was born from a desire to fill a gap β€” not just in the event calendar, but in the deeper soul of the electronic music scene in Leeds.

We believe progressive house is more than a genre. It’s a feeling. A sound that unfolds slowly and purposefully. A journey where each track is chosen not just for what it sounds like, but what it evokes. While cities like Manchester, London and Glasgow have embraced this movement, Leeds β€” despite its rich music heritage β€” has yet to carve out a dedicated space for this sound.

    We want to change that.

Oscura is our vision of what progressive house can be: deep, cinematic, hypnotic and emotionally charged. We take inspiration from the global scene β€” from Argentina to Australia β€” and from the artists pushing boundaries across Anjunadeep, Sudbeat, The Soundgarden, Lost & Found and beyond. But we also want to shape something uniquely local. Something intimate, high quality, and intentionally curated.

Through thoughtfully designed day-into-night experiences, immersive soundscapes, and bookings that balance international pioneers with rising underground talent, we aim to grow a connected, open-minded community. One where music lovers aren’t chasing drops, but journeys.

This isn’t just a party. It’s the start of a movement.

    β€œWhen light fades, sound begins.”

  • Manchester already has an incredible legacy β€” a city built on rhythm, rebellion, and reinvention. From The Hacienda to modern-day warehouse takeovers, it’s no secret that this city lives and breathes electronic music. But within its ever-evolving landscape, we saw space for something more nuanced, more cinematic, more intentional.

Oscura isn’t here to compete with the Manchester scene β€” we’re here to complement it. To add depth, diversity, and a fresh perspective rooted in a specific sound: deep and melodic progressive house. A genre that doesn’t always chase big moments but instead builds journeys that last long after the lights come up.

We’re bringing the textures, transitions and storytelling energy that have made progressive house such a force in places like Argentina, Amsterdam, and Malta β€” and adding them to Manchester’s raw energy and creativity.

Our mission is simple: to give both longtime fans and new listeners an experience that’s carefully curated, emotionally immersive, and unforgettably intimate.

We’re proud to be part of the scene. And we’re here to raise the collective frequency.
